Voice of the families Part 48: Usedi and his father – CANCaRe Africa

CANCaRe Africa shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Voice of the families’ post#48 Usedi and his father.

Usedi is a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. He is the last born child in a family of six children. His parents are farmers.
His father had to borrow money to cover medical and household expenses. As a farmer, he is also responsible for other costs for his farm.

He said, “I used to believe that cancer was incurable. However, after coming to the hospital and receiving counseling from health professionals, I noticed my child’s improvement even after a single cycle of chemotherapy. This gives me hope and motivates me to continue the treatment.”

He expressed his gratitude to Jimma University Medical Centre, Tesfa Addis Parents Childhood Cancer Organization (TAPCCO), and the Zero Abandonment from Start to Finish Project for their assistance and encouragement.

Appropriate consent was given.”
