Vincent Rajkumar, Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Editor‑in‑Chief at Blood Cancer Journal, and Chairman of the International Myeloma Foundation Board, shared a post on X:
“What is the International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG)?
The IMWG was founded in 2001 by the late Dr. Brian Durie, International Myeloma Foundation.
The IMWG has over 325 experts from around the world. You can find all of the members here.
We work collaboratively to develop diagnostic, prognostic, and response criteria that are the foundation for clinical trials and used by regulatory agencies to adjudicate new drugs and products. We also issue guidelines for clinical practice and lead several international research projects.
The IMWG is unique; there are few diseases that exhibit this level of collaboration. We are committed to curing myeloma and to our patients. To a person, the IMWG is comprised of experts who work selflessly and without ego for the advancement of myeloma research and care. We also work collaboratively with the larger myeloma community represented by the Myeloma Society.
Many of our members are active on social media. Follow them!”
