Vilma Pacheco Barcia: Several Presentations that Shape the Future of GI Oncology

Vilma Pacheco Barcia, Head of the Medical Oncology Department at Hospital Universitario La Luz, Gastrointestinal Cancer Unit at One Oncology Madrid Program, Quirónsalud, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“A week after ASCO26, I’ve been reflecting on several presentations that shape the future of GI oncology.

Among them, RASolute302 was particularly meaningful. Pancreaticcancer remains one of the most challenging diseases we treat, and meaningful advances have been rare. Seeing daraxonrasib become the first RAS-targeted therapy to demonstrate an overall survival benefit in previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months) was more than an important scientific milestone—it was a reminder that persistent research efforts can ultimately translate into hope for patients and families facing this disease.

Other studies that stood out included IMbrave251, supporting TKI monotherapy after atezolizumab-bevacizumab progression; EMERALD-3, demonstrating improved outcomes with STRIDE + TACE in unresectable HCC; and HorizonCRC01, showing encouraging activity of trastuzumab rezetecan in refractory HER2+ metastatic colorectal cancer.

Schedules were very, very busy and I am truly grateful to those who made time to meet, exchange ideas, and discuss future research opportunities.”
