Vignesvari Subramaniam: Advocating for Breast Cancer Awareness During Pink October

Vignesvari Subramaniam, Deputy Medical Director at the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), shared a post on LinkedIn:

Pink October is not just Pink for most of us.

The movement began in 1985 with the American Cancer Society establishing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The color pink and the pink ribbon are used to represent the cause and are widely recognized globally.
Pink October is a tool to educate the public about breast cancer, including its signs, symptoms, and the importance of early detection through screening.
In NCSM, we advocate for accessible screening and better treatments, particularly where disparities in survival rates are significant in Malaysia.
Active donations to fund for research, improved prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer are more than welcome.

Thank you for the support, KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital!
The program was graced by HRH Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin (Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor).”
