Victor Moreno։ A Step Forward for Cell Therapy in Solid Tumors

Victor Moreno, Director Clinical Research at START Madrid FJD, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Very happy to share our new editorial in Annals of Oncology: ‘HER2-directed TAC T cells in solid tumors: a step forward, but not yet a therapeutic leap.’
In this piece, Dr. Manuel Pedregal and I discuss the first-in-human experience with TAC01-HER2, an autologous HER2-directed T-cell antigen coupler therapy for advanced HER2-expressing solid tumors.

The study shows that cell therapy with HER2-directed TAC-T cells are feasible and can be delivered with manageable acute toxicity, but the clinical activity remains modest.

For us, the key message is that this is an important step for cellular therapy in solid tumors – but also a reminder that better patient selection, improved trafficking/persistence, shorter manufacturing, and safer targeting of non-tumor-specific antigens such as HER2 remain essential.

A step forward, but not yet the leap we need.”
