Valsamo Anagnostou, Co-Director of Thoracic Oncology Precision Medicine Center of Excellence and Division of Upper Aerodigestive Malignancies and Alex Grass Professor of Oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am incredibly honored to receive the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group 2026 Young Investigator of the Year award. This award exemplifies my commitment to precision medicine through the integration of innovative minimally invasive liquid biopsies into the care of individuals with cancer and the optimization of cancer therapies based on the genomic footprint of tumors.
Thank you to all ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group leadership for their support!
My favorite moment? It was the night before, when the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group advocacy group came to the Molecular Oncology lab at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center to learn about our liquid biopsy and cancer biology research. It was an incredible 2 hours of engaging discussions, insightful feedback, and active demonstrations of experiments by Blair Landon, Ezgi Oner and Samira Hosseininami, a tour of our biobank by Gavin Pereira and a review of AI use in healthcare by Archana Balan.
For us in the lab, it is incredibly important to communicate back and present our work to the people who make all of our research possible by donating biospecimens. You give us purpose.”
