Urvashi Prasad, Editor in Chief of the Global South Healthcare Journal and Visiting Senior Fellow at IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the IHW Council’s Patient First Summit, I moderated a session on compassionate cancer care pathways.
We discussed issues that often remain invisible in mainstream discourse:
- Time toxicity for patients and caregivers navigating complex treatments
- The urgent need for cost–benefit analysis of modern therapies and minimally invasive surgery
- Greater investment in indigenous research to ensure treatments are effective and accessible
India cannot afford to keep importing expensive drugs that have never been tested on Indian patients. We must build evidence, innovation, and care models that reflect our realities.
The path forward must be both scientifically rigorous and deeply humane.”
