Urvashi Prasad Receiving the IASLC Patient Advocate Education Award

Urvashi Prasad,  Editor in Chief of the Global South Healthcare Journal and Visiting Senior Fellow at IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute, shared on X:

“Reflections from my first WCLC2025. Honoured to receive the IASLC Patient Advocate Education Award – but above all, grateful for the platform to bring patient voices into the global conversation.

This year was bittersweet as I remembered my friend Ravi Prakash, last year’s awardee, who passed away from Stage 4 lung cancer. His courage and fierce patient advocacy continue to inspire.

Takeaways:

  1. High cost of targeted/immunotherapies keeps treatment out of reach.
  2. Few clinical trials in India/Africa = patients left out of research.
  3. We need more focused roundtables/workshops where pharma, policymakers, patients, researchers co-create solutions.

Patients are at the heart of everything we do. Looking forward to helping amplify voices from the Global South in the global fight against lung cancer.”
