Advancing Childhood Cancer Outcomes at UNGA80 – Childhood Cancer International

Childhood Cancer International shared a post on LinkedIn:

“On Friday, September 26, childhood cancer took center stage at a high-level side event co-hosted by International Society of Paediatric Oncology – SIOP and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) during UNGA80 in New York: “Leveraging the WHO GICC to Accelerate NCD Progress and Leave No One Behind: Advancing Childhood Cancer Outcomes in Low- and Middle-Income Countries Through Stronger Data Mapping and Local Research.”

Representing Childhood Cancer International (CCI), Alejandra Méndez, Vice President and Chair-Elect, participated in Panel 2: “The Case for Driving Equity Through Transformative Approaches: The Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines & SIOP Research Capacity Programme.” She shared the perspectives of People With Lived Experience (PWLE) of childhood cancer, emphasizing the urgent need to include them in clinical research and key decision-making processes.

This historic moment elevates childhood cancer to the highest political level through the 4th High-Level Meeting on NCDs, reinforcing the global commitment to achieve at least 60% survival by 2030.
