Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the WHA79 high-level side event ‘From Global Commitments to Integrated Lung Health Action’, governments and global experts warned that 580 million people remain undiagnosed, lack access to treatment, and face fragmented health systems.
Hosted by UICC, the Ministry Of Health, Malaysia (KKM), the Forum of International Respiratory Societies, and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), and supported by Brazil. Kenya, the Philippines, and the NCD Alliance, the event brought together key decision-makers shaping national and global lung health policy.
We were pleased to welcome Rasika Bombatkar, World Cancer Day advocate, to lend her expertise to the discussion and help inform future policy decisions. Drawing on her lived experience of lung cancer and navigating complex health systems, she brought a vital perspective to conversations shaping the future of care.
Insights from people with lived experience must be consistently integrated into decision-making, ensuring that governments and health systems deliver more inclusive, people-centred care for all.
Stay tuned for more on lung health as we prepare for World No Tobacco Day this Sunday 31 May.”
