That’s What People-Centred Cancer Care Means: Putting the Person Before the Disease – UICC

Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The number of people affected by cancer is rising sharply, with over 35 million new cases projected worldwide by 2050.

For many, cancer becomes a long-term condition that overlaps with other physical and mental health issues and affects every part of life: work, family, finances, relationships, and well-being. Its impact extends far beyond the individual, touching caregivers, families, and entire communities.

As more people face cancer, the need to ensure care is accessible, appropriate, and adapted to each person and population becomes increasingly urgent.

That’s what people-centred cancer care means, putting the person before the disease. Cancer care that listens, understands, and acts with compassion.”
