Trista Beard: Promoting Equity in Lung Cancer Screening at USC Symposium

Trista Beard, Research Program Manager at USC Department of Population and Public Health Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The 2026 Cancer Health Equity Symposium at USC brought together more than 150 clinicians, scientists, patient navigators, industry professionals, and health advocates from across Southern California to advance an important shared goal: increasing equitable access to navigators and lung cancer screening. 18 speakers and panelists shared resources, evidence-based practices, implementation strategies, and community-informed approaches to expand lung cancer screening initiatives-particularly in populations that continue to face barriers to early detection.

The conversations highlighted how collaboration across clinical care, research, and community engagement can accelerate progress in reducing lung cancer disparities.

Thank you to our outstanding speakers for sharing their expertise and to our sponsors AstraZeneca, City of Hope, California Lung Cancer Coalition, Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and USC Department of Population and Public Health Sciences for making this convening possible. Your support helps move this work forward and strengthens our collective commitment to advancing cancer health equity in Southern California.

Shout out to Dr. Chanita Hughes Halbert, Dr. Trista Beard, Diana Morales, Kelsie Campbell, Alexa Lindgren, for putting together an inspiring conference.
