Tracey O’Brien: Ongoing Efforts to Reduce Tobacco and Nicotine Use

Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today is World No Tobacco Day, and it’s an important reminder of the ongoing need to work together to reduce the impact of smoking in our communities.

The tobacco and nicotine industry continues to reinvent and repackage its products to hook new generations, and we know how hard it can be to stop smoking or vaping.

At the Cancer Institute NSW we’re really proud to deliver world-class resources to help people across the state to start their quit journeys, and stay quit. We have our iCanQuit website and community, the NSW Quitline telephone support and Pave, an app to help young people stay vape-free.

Across decades we have all made huge strides tackling tobacco and nicotine in NSW, but we need to keep working to make sure everybody has the support they need to quit.

Together we can make sure more Australians lead healthy lives free of tobacco and nicotine.”
