Tracey O’Brien Unveils Cancer Institute NSW’s Graphic Anti-Smoking Campaign

Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“In NSW, around 1 in 10 adults smoke. That’s around 775,000 people.

While decades of public health efforts have helped significantly reduce NSW’s smoking rates, it remains the leading cause of cancer-related preventable disease and death in NSW.

Launched this week across mass media channels, the Cancer Institute NSW’s Mutations campaign is a reality check – a graphic reminder that every cigarette is doing damage.

Using computer‑generated imagery, the campaign brings to life how smoking triggers dangerous cell mutations that can lead to cancer, exposing the real and often unseen harm caused by smoking.

Smoking is an addiction and one of the worst things you can do for your health. That’s why public health efforts and campaigns like these are so critical.

If you smoke, or know someone who does, take the steps needed to quit. It could be life-changing.

Read more on the Mutations campaign and access quit support.”
