Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:
” ‘I always say the cancer journey doesn’t stop after treatment does – it’s simply a new journey’
These are the powerful words of 31 year old Ashleigh, who was diagnosed with cancer when she was just 2 years old.
The past 29 years have had their ups and downs, with Ashleigh navigating the long-term side effects of life-saving cancer treatment.
Helping her along the way have been incredible specialists, dedicated to supporting Ashleigh and others like her through childhood cancer survivorship programs.
Ashleigh’s story is a reminder that cancer’s impact doesn’t stop when treatment ends. This International Childhood Cancer Day let’s celebrate the strength and resilience of people like Ashleigh and their families, and the teams of people across NSW who dedicate their lives to supporting them during and post treatment.
Read Ashleigh’s story.”
