Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post by UNSW Medicine and Health on LinkedIn, adding:

“This marks a giant step forward in the Australian cancer research landscape. Congrats to Professors Bogda Koczwara, Elgene Lim, Cheryl Jones and Sarah Hosking PhD FAICD . The Cancer Institute NSW looks forward to partnering with you and seeing the positive impact your research will have on improving the lives of people with cancer and their careers.”

Quoting UNSW Medicine and Health‘s post:

A world-first research centre dedicated to cancer survivorship has officially launched at UNSW today.

The UNSW Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS), a partnership between Cancer Council NSW and UNSW, will focus on improving quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer, so they not only survive, but thrive.

Led by international expert Professor Bogda Koczwara AM, ARCCS will inform health practice and policy across Australia, by testing new models of survivorship support and addressing health inequities so that no cancer survivors are left behind due to lack of access, resources or stigma.

This centre is for those affected by cancer and it is here because we understand that cancer survivorship comes at a price. It can lead to physical, psychological, emotional and financial problems,” says Professor Koczwara.

“We must create a world where every cancer survivor is supported through the delivery of personalized care.”
