Tracey O’Brien: World-Class Achievements in Cancer Institute NSW

Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Last night, Cancer Institute NSW was proud to host the 20th annual NSW Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research.

From the Rising Star to the Outstanding Cancer Researcher of the Year, the awards brought together the best and brightest in NSW cancer research.

Silence filled the room as we ended the night announcing the winner of the Consumer Engagement award. Presented to Eric Yeung, President of CanRevive Inc., he took to the stage and spoke of the loss of his wife to lung cancer and how his hope for a miracle never came.

Despite his unimaginable loss, his words to the cancer research community ‘because of you I know that somebody, someday, will get that miracle’ left everyone speechless, inspired and energised to keep pushing forward.

Without question, the achievements taking place in NSW are simply world-class, but there is so much more to be done. I’d like to congratulate all of the award nominees, winners and to the entire NSW cancer research community for always pushing the dial. Your work inspires me every day.

I’d like to thank our NSW Premier, Chris Minns, NSW Minister for Medical Research and Aboriginal Affairs David Harris, Secretary of NSW Health Susan Pearce AM and to the many others who attended this milestone event and who support the efforts of our passionate and expert cancer research community.

For a full list of winners visit.”
