Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post by Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) on LinkedIn:
“Research has shown alcohol use is linked to eight different types of cancer including breast, bowel and liver cancer.
About 5,800 cancer cases in Australia could be prevented each year if people limited their alcohol intake.
To help educate the community and start an important conversation, the Cancer Institute NSW has launched an Australian first digital tool, to help adults estimate their lifetime risk of alcohol-related cancers and access the information they need to reduce their cancer risk.
When it comes to cancer risk, no amount of alcohol is safe but any reduction in alcohol consumption could make all the difference.
Take a few minutes to see how your drinking affects your cancer risk and seek the help you need to take positive steps in the right direction.“
Evaluate your alcohol and cancer risk.
