Tracey O’Brien: Privileged to Help Officially Launch Two New Clinics in NSW

Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW,, shared on LinkedIn:

“Breast cancer kills around 1000 women in NSW every year, taking the lives of our mothers, sisters, friends and neighbours.

Supporting women to access breast screening, whether it is at a BreastScreen Clinic or mobile van is crucial to detecting breast cancer early and saving lives.

This month, I was privileged to help officially launch two new clinics in NSW, one in Blacktown and one in Mona Vale. These new facilities have been purpose-built to serve the needs of the local community and make the experience of having a breast screen as easy and person-centred as possible.

The latest data shows that more than 560,000 women across NSW are not up to date with their breast screening. As a community, we need to come together to change this and remind the women in our lives to put their health first.

Breast screening is truly life-saving. If you’re eligible for a breast screen, don’t delay, book it in today by calling 13 20 50 or visiting.

A big thank you to the teams at Western Sydney Local Health District and Northern Sydney Local Health District for helping bring the Blacktown and Mona Vale clinics to the women in their community. Particular thanks to Amanda Larkin, Nirmala Pathmanathan, Anthony M. Schembri AM and Meredith Kay.”
