Todd Harper: The Victorian Cancer Registry’s 2024 Cancer in Victoria Report

Todd Harper, Director of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), CEO of Cancer Council Victoria, and Chair of NCD Alliance Grant Oversight Sub-Committee, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The Victorian Cancer Registry’s latest Cancer in Victoria report reveals Victoria recorded its highest-ever number of cancer diagnoses in 2024.

For the first time, the report includes an analysis of cancer incidence and survival by country of birth. The findings show:

– Several overseas-born communities face higher rates of liver, stomach, thyroid, and pancreatic cancers.
– Australian-born Victorians have higher rates of prostate and bowel cancer, and melanoma.

I recently spoke with VCR Head Professor Sue Evans (GAICD) about these key findings and how Cancer Council Victoria’s work in prevention, early detection, and treatment is helping to save lives.

Explore the full report here.”
