Tiffany Patrick: How The Max Foundation Transforms Access Into Patient Impact?

Tiffany Patrick, Founder at Health Advocacy Strategies LLC, shared on LinkedIn:

“Before my trip to Malaysia and the Philippines last week, access to medicines was a concept I believed in and supported, but had little- to – no direct experience of. Last week that changed. Traveling with Pat Garcia-Gonzalez and her team at The Max Foundation, I saw the impact that access to innovative medicines in low –  and middle – income countries has on patients, families, physicians, health policy, and health systems.

I had the opportunity to meet physicians caring for families working with The Max Foundation and spend time with patient leaders supporting these communities. We were welcomed into homes, hospital wards, support group meetings, and Global CML Day celebrations. I also saw that access is about far more than medicine alone. In Malaysia, the Max team supports families affected by cancer with grants that help keep children in school while families navigate a cancer diagnosis, a powerful reminder that access has to be understood in the context of a patient’s whole life.

Those of us who can impact access to innovative medicines must. Not because it is easy, but because it is hard.

It’s not too late to contribute to my fundraiser to support the Max Foundation’s work.

Thank you Pat, Emily Muirhead, Mei Ching Ong, Saif A., and the entire Max team in Malaysia and the Philippines.”
