Thor Halfdanarson, Professor of Oncology at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, shared a post on X:
“At the risk of sounding like the grumpy old attending (the latter is true…) who walked uphill in the snow both ways to his 30 hour shifts in residency, I do worry about both de-skilling and never-skilling as a side effect of AI.
This is an interesting piece and it is upon us to figure out a way to responsibly integrate AI at all stages of medical training.
Whether that impacts patient care and outcome is another question as it is possible that the use of AI will overall improve it. And yes, I use AI many times a day in my practice.
And I do think about this a lot.”
