Thomas Sutherland, Pre-Professional Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Florida shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’ve had a very busy couple of weeks presenting my research at two different UF research showcases. Two weeks ago, I presented my poster at the UF Health Cancer Institute Research Showcase, and yesterday I presented at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy Research Showcase. It was a very rewarding experience to share everything I’ve contributed to our project and communicate my findings to the judges.
My research focuses on Pegaspargase (PEG) hypersensitivity reactions during the treatment of pediatric leukemia and lymphoma. We leveraged genome-wide data to develop a polygenic risk score that could one day help clinicians adjust PEG treatment, hopefully leading to fewer allergic reactions. I’m very grateful to be part of such meaningful research, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to present this project.”
