“Great to catch up with Martha Raymond at ESMO 2026 in Madrid, after the Big Questions in Oncology panel hosted by OncoDaily.
Credit to OncoDaily for bringing clinicians, researchers, policymakers, industry and patient advocates into the same room for an open discussion on the decisions that shape cancer care. These conversations are more useful when all the stakeholders are at the table.
One point from the discussion stayed with me: patients and caregivers belong in the conversation when trials are being designed, not only when the results come out. Approval of a medicine does not by itself mean a patient can receive it, and no single group can close that gap alone.
It is encouraging to see the patient voice taking its place at the table, and Martha and the GI Cancers Alliance have done a great deal to make that happen for people living with GI cancers. Congratulations on the work, and thank you for the conversation.”
