Our biggest takeaways from the Krzyzewski Family Cancer Research Symposium?
‘We are making better cancer therapies by studying the most evolved organisms on earth, turning biologies to therapies. We do this using precise, DNA-pasting enzymes to turn normal T cells in the body into cancer killing CAR-T cells.’- Ami Bhatt, M.D., Ph.D.
‘Dogs and humans develop many of the same cancers, and therapy response in dogs is very similar to humans. We are currently researching natural killer ‘NK’ cell therapy to find and destroy cancer cells, helping both dogs and humans, to improve immunotherapy outcomes. – Robert Canter, M.D.
‘Brain tumors are the number 1 cause of pediatric cancer deaths.
Currently, my lab is receiving pediatric patient blood from multiple cancer centers, creating new collaborations across the country. From this research, we’ve been able to look at and detect brain tumor signals with a blood test instead of more invasive procedures, giving better treatments and peace of mind to pediatric brain tumor patients and their families.’ – Shannon Stott, Ph.D.”
