The Max Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:

“We’re excited to feature Dr. Chirag Desai, our medical partner who’s a practicing consultant oncologist at HOC Vedanta in Ahmedabad, India Keep reading to learn more about him.

What inspired you to become a physician?

A Doctor of Medicine degree in oncology opened up when I was appearing for the interview for DM, and I accepted oncology as my career and developed a passion for oncology.

What does being part of The Max Foundation mean to you?

Being a Max partnering physician gives me a satisfaction that I am able to offer the best available treatment to the patient. I feel that someone is standing with us (me and the patient) who is not only managing to get the drugs to the patient but is full of compassion and empathy.

What’s one thing you love most about working with patients?

When trying to offer optimal care to the patient, it is often crucial to communicate the pros and cons of the different treatment options with patient and family. I try to communicate in a simple language that the particular patient understands. When I see that the patient understands and participates in the discussion, that gives me a deep satisfaction.

What message would you like to share with patients and caregivers?

You are fighting against a disease, but you are not alone. You may have problems, questions, fears, but please feel free to open up and discuss them with your family and then with your doctor. For the diseases like chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), The Max Foundation also is there for you.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

Bollywood music, light Gujarati music, and travelling.”
