“Global cancer care faces a 100 million worker shortfall by 2050.
That’s according to a new Lancet Oncology Commission, published today and presented at ASCO26.
The burden will fall disproportionately on LMICs, where ~70% of new cancer cases are expected to occur.

- Generate $120 trillion in economic benefit
- Deliver a $7.33 return for every $1 invested in treatment specialists
The message is clear: strengthening the cancer workforce is essential to improving cancer outcomes globally.”
