The Christie NHS Foundation Trust shared on LinkedIn:
“Meet Dr Thitikorn Nuamek, who is exploring how patient-reported information, data and digital technology can help improve cancer care and reduce inequalities.
Known to colleagues as Pao, he combines research with clinical practice, helping develop new ways for patients to share information about their symptoms, wellbeing and quality of life.
His work focuses on electronic patient-reported outcome measures (ePROMs), digital questionnaires that help make the patient voice a routine part of cancer care. At The Christie, ePROMs are now used across more than 50 services, supporting over 40,000 patients, with more than 160,000 questionnaires completed.
Pao also uses data to better understand health inequalities and ensure innovation benefits all patients.
‘We need to understand not only whether technologies work, but who benefits from them, who does not, and why,’ he says.
His work also explores the organisational and health economic value of ePROMs, including their impact on healthcare services and how they can help make better use of NHS resources.
At The Christie, using ePROMs as part of pre-treatment assessments for systemic anti-cancer therapy saved around 50 hours of clinical time in just four weeks.
‘My mission is to support the wider adoption of ePROMs across the country, so that the benefits are not limited to patients treated at a small number of specialist centres.’
Pao is proud to be The Christie’s Jac Livsey Fellow in Health Inequalities, funded by The Christie Charity.
The fellowship is named in memory of Dr Jac Livsey, whose pioneering work to improve the use of clinical data continues to support better patient care and research today.
Together, We are The Christie.”
To which Jonathan Lim, Lead of The Christie International Fellowship Programme for Medical Oncology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, added:
“Pao – you’re such a star, and a pride of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust!
Keep up the important work you are doing.”
