“If you asked me for just one thing you can do today to get ready for your career tomorrow, my answer is simple: Ask for, and give, feedback.
It sounds basic, but it is deeply foundational. You cannot effectively navigate where you are going if you don’t have a clear, constructive understanding of where you stand today.
And don’t just look upward for it.
Seek feedback from your peers, your cross-functional partners, and the teams around you. If you are a people leader, it is especially critical that you actively invite feedback from the individuals you lead.
Trust me, they know your development areas better than anyone else does!
It takes courage to ask for it, and it takes care to give it effectively. But feedback is the ultimate fuel for unlocking potential and building a culture of trust – and performance.
