“Congratulations Mozambique for reaching a major milestone in strengthening the regulation of medicines and imported vaccines.
Its national regulatory authority, National Medicines Regulatory Authority of Mozambique (ANARME) is now recognized by WHO for reaching WHO Maturity Level 3 as having a stable, well-functioning and integrated regulatory system for medicines and imported vaccines.
I also congratulate South Africa for retaining the same recognition for vaccines.
This achievements mean greater assurance that medicines and vaccines are appropriately evaluated for quality, safety and efficacy and monitored throughout their lifecycle.
Strong regulatory systems are essential to protect people’s health and expand equitable access to the health products people need.
Both recognitions follow recommendations from WHO’s new Technical Advisory Group on Regulatory Systems Strengthening.”
