“Good meeting with Dr Teodoro J. Herbosa, Philippines Secretary of Health, during WHA79. We discussed the Department of Health Philippines’s leadership, with Barbados, Jamaica and other countries, to bolster South-South collaboration on health workforce training and ethical recruitment.
I was also grateful for Secretary Herbosa’s appreciation of WHO’s support to the Filipino crew members of the MV Hondius during the hantavirus outbreak response.
I recognized the Philippines’ steadfast support of WHO, including by financing the Contingency Fund for Emergencies and the WHO Investment Round to support health system strengthening in the Western Pacific.”
