“Good meeting with Dr. Juan Carlos Velasco Guerrero, Minister of Health of Peru, on the sidelines of WHA79. I praised the minister for Peru’s expansion of its immunization program as part of its commitment to advancing Health For All in the country and throughout the Andes region. We discussed how misinformation is playing a role in vaccine hesitancy and outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases like measles.
In addition, we agreed on the importance of negotiating an effective WHO Pandemic Agreement’s Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing system annex, which can make the world safer from future pandemics.”
