Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, shared a post on Facebook:
“Pleasure to welcome HE Prof Kamil Idris, Prime Minister of Sudan to World Health Organization (WHO)’s headquarters in Geneva. We appreciate this visit.
The Prime Minister’s peace initiative is vital to end violence, protect civilians and uphold peace and security.
I acknowledged the government’s efforts to provide health services and control disease outbreaks such as cholera, measles and polio despite the challenges on the ground. Our discussions also focused on securing access for the delivery of assistance; the protection of health workers and patients, health facilities and assets; and rebuilding the health system.
World Health Organization (WHO) stands ready to support Sudan ensure the uninterrupted availability of health services throughout the country.
Peace is the best medicine.”
