The Newly Released WHO Global Status Report on Cancer 2026 is Both a Warning and a Call to Action – TDCF

The Dorcas Cancer Foundation (TDCF) shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The newly released World Health Organization Global Status Report on Cancer 2026 is both a warning and a call to action. While scientific advances continue to improve cancer outcomes, millions of people around the world still face significant barriers to timely diagnosis, quality treatment, and financial protection.

For us at The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, this reinforces what we witness every day: where a person lives should never determine whether they survive cancer. For children, adolescents, and young adults, every delayed diagnosis, missed referral, or interruption in treatment can profoundly affect not only survival but also quality of life and future opportunities.

The future of cancer care must be built on stronger, more resilient health systems that prioritize early diagnosis, timely referral, equitable access to quality treatment, and people-centred care that leaves no child or young person behind.

That is why we remain committed to working alongside families, healthcare professionals, hospitals, governments, and global partners to strengthen childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer care.

We are working with key actors to build health systems that give every child and young person regardless of where they are born, the opportunity to survive, thrive, and realize their full potential.”
