Tami Eagle Bowling, Founder and Motivational Speaker of The EAGLE Method, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today is World Breast Cancer Research Day. It’s a day to recognize the research changing lives and the research still urgently needed.
Nearly 670,000 people around the world die from breast cancer each year, with almost all breast cancer deaths caused by Stage IV, metastatic breast cancer, where the cancer spreads beyond the breast to other parts of the body. Yet on average, only 13% of breast cancer research funding is devoted to metastatic breast cancer research.*
That is why Light Up MBC is committed to turning awareness into action. As someone who is living with MBC, this cause is deeply personal.
Since 2020, funds raised through Light Up MBC have helped support METAVIVOR RESEARCH AND SUPPORT INC research grants dedicated specifically to metastatic breast cancer—from understanding treatment resistance and identifying new biomarkers to studying brain, lung, liver and bone metastases, immunotherapy and promising new approaches to treatment.
View the carousel to meet some of the researchers whose work has been supported through Light Up MBC and the extraordinary communities whose fundraising helped make these grants possible.
Every grant represents hope.
Hope for better treatments.
Hope for more time.
Hope for a future where no one dies from metastatic breast cancer.
On World Breast Cancer Research Day, please help us continue funding the research that can change the future of Stage IV breast cancer.
