Tameeka Ieremia, National Reconciliation Coordinator at Canteen Australia, shared Canteen Australia’s post on LinkedIn, adding:
“This space means so much bringing together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people impacted by cancer to connect, heal, and advocate together.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this community, follow Canteen Australia and reach out, this space is for you.”
Quoting Canteen Australia’s post:
“‘It’s more than leadership. It’s connection, it’s healing and it’s making space for the next mob coming through.’
This National Reconciliation week we’re excited to introduce the YARN – a leadership group made up of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people impacted by cancer.
By sharing their lived experience and working in partnership with Elders, YARN members help shape culturally safe support grounded in connection, healing, and the needs of young people.
It’s a model of leadership that centres community and helps ensure support continues to evolve for the next generation of young mob.”
