Hosting a Multidisciplinary Tumor Board ‘Inaugural Tamarind Case Sharing Meeting’ – Tamarind Health

Tamarind Health shared on LinkedIn:

”A Strong Start to a New Regional Collaboration

On 30 July, we had the privilege of hosting the Inaugural Tamarind Case Sharing Meeting, led by OncoCare Singapore from Tamarind Health.

More than 60 senior consultant oncologists and specialists across oncology-related disciplines joined from six countries across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, China, Vietnam. The session demonstrated the strong collaboration among clinicians to connect, discuss, and exchange perspectives among peers on the management of rare and complex cancers.

A special thanks to Kevin Tay for opening the inaugural meeting, and thank you, Valerie Yang for presenting an engaging discussion centered on a de novo Li-Fraumeni syndrome case. Her presentation prompted exciting conversations around genetic testing, rare cancer patient management strategies, and the practical application of precision oncology in clinical practice.

The level of participation and high-level discussions throughout the session reflected the collective expertise within our regional network and the value of bringing specialists together in a dedicated forum.

To everyone who attended, thank you for making this inaugural session such a success. We are excited about the foundation that has been established and look forward to continuing knowledge exchange in the future.

Time is always critical for rare cancer patients. Patients with rare cancers are often bounced between non-specialised doctors or simply don’t know where to turn to. A group of true experts at Tamarind – OncoCare, TalkMED, Solis Breast Care & Surgery Centre, Novena Heart Centre will be able to deliver patient care in a personalized, fast, and decisive manner.

Together, we can strengthen regional collaboration and advance care for cancer patients.”

To which, Valerie Yang, Senior Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre, added:

”It’s not every day that one gets to hear from 60 senior consultant oncologists and oncology-associated specialists and across so many countries in Asia! This is a multidisciplinary Tumor board on steroids.

Thanks Tamarind Health and OncoCare for the opportunity to share some insights into one of my rare cancer cases, as well as to share our ongoing translational research, clinical trials and collaborations across rare cancers!

The management and treatment of this underserved group of cancers that make up one quarter of all cancers should really be improved. There is no reason why outcomes should not match the better outcomes we see in common cancers – if we can improve our understanding of these cancers, utilize cutting edge technologies and match effective treatment to our patients.

Already I’ve been contacted by several of our overseas colleagues to discuss regional rare cancer cases – I am very happy to be of service and to hear more! ”
