Susie Stanway on London Global Cancer Week 2026: Advancing Equity Across the Global Cancer Continuum

Susie Stanway, Co-Founder of the UK Global Cancer Network and International Affairs Committee at ASCO, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Reflecting on London Global Cancer Week we would like to thank all the hosts who ran webinars, hybrid and in-person meetings last month and to everyone who contributed. The Week had input from multi-disciplinary colleagues across the globe spanning the cancer-continuum. An array of insights were given and knowledge shared by health care professionals in practice, those with lived experience, academics, ministries of health, multilateral institutions, NGOs and industry.

The Week opened with the China-UK Anti-Cancer Summit on Monday 24th November in collaboration with China Anti-Cancer Association and ended with a packed day of rich evidence-based in-person discussions on how to improve disparities around cancer within and between countries, organized by Dr Olubukola Ayodele, with over 40 international meetings in-between these two it was a productive and stimulating week. Please look out for posts from our social media with key take aways from individual sessions.

Thank you to our dedicated management committee Emma-Jayne King, Heather Mei Lan Ee and Simon Middleton.

Thank you to the steering group who have guided the evolution of The Week: Christopher Jackson, Neil Ranasinghe, Myrna Abi Abdallah Doumit, Vania Wisdom, CS Pramesh, Miriam Mutebi, Mark P. Lythgoe, Eduardo Cazap, Danielle Rodin, Lijun Zhang from CACA, Jenna Bhimani. Particular thanks goes to co-convenor Dr Katie Wakeham and to co-convenor elect Dr Olubukola Ayodele

Recordings of the sessions will be available on the London Global Cancer Week website soon and in the Spring we will be welcoming proposals for London Global Cancer Week 2026. Please also look out for a summary of the Round Table event that was held on the “Financing of cancer care globally“, attended by 38 international leaders, moderated by Robert Yates a summary of which will be published soon in Economist Impact and also written up by Darien Laird‘s team.

Thank you to ecancer and OncoDaily for amplifying key messages from LGCW and to The Lancet Group for inviting us to share key messages in one of their podcasts. It is by sharing experiences and knowledge alongside collaborative work that cancer outcomes globally are improving and will continue to improve.”
