“I am always amazed by the pace of innovation in Asia and these past few weeks during my visit, I was able to see this pace in full form and how teams are shaping the next frontier with purpose.
My first visit to China was in 2010 as an Oncologist. It is truly impressive on where and how health systems and research has come forward over the past decade, where there is a true shift in mindset and there is now certainly an ambition to lead and shape the next wave of Cancer research and care.
The visit was also a reminder that while the challenges in cancer care differ from region to region, the ambition is shared: to help more people live longer, healthier lives.
In China, I was encouraged to take part in the first China Patient Advocacy Leaders Summit (PALS), bringing together patients and partners across the ecosystem from the oncology community.
Conversations like these reinforce that real progress happens when patient voices move from informing discussions to influencing change.
I was honored to participate in a summit bringing together diverse perspectives to strengthen patient advocacy, improve access to innovation, and drive more patient-centered healthcare in China.
September also marked the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in Seoul, and the World Cancer Congress (WCC) in Hong Kong. All of these moments highlighted the tremendous possibilities to improve cancer care when we work in collaboration and with a shared purpose.
