Suhana Sulfiker: Palliative Care as an Integral Part of Oncology at ASCO Breakthrough 2026

Suhana Sulfiker, Senior resident in the Department of Palliative Medicine at AIIMS New Delhi, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was a privilege to present our randomized controlled trial on prophylactic dexamethasone for opioid-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with cancer at ASCO Breakthrough 2026.

The meeting reinforced an important message: palliative care is not an adjunct to oncology, it is an integral part of high-quality cancer care. Research that improves symptom control has a direct impact on patients’ quality of life.

I had the opportunity to interact with and learn from leaders in oncology, including Abhishek Shankar, Dr. Monica Malik, Nisha Shariff, Martin Stockler, Lawson Eng and several other colleagues from across the world. These conversations offered valuable perspectives on research, clinical practice, and future collaborations.

Grateful to my mentors, co-authors, colleagues, and patients who made this work possible.

Looking forward to contributing further to evidence-based palliative oncology.”
