Soumen Das: Why Cancer Care Can’t Be Hospital-Only

Soumen Das, Head of Department of Surgical Oncology at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Cancer Hospital, CEO and Co-Founder at ArrowsUP LLP, and Co-Founder at Specifixon Healthcare, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today, I’m sharing something close to my heart on World Cancer Day.

At The Institute of Breast Diseases in Kolkata, we launched Project Pink Army as a community-driven movement, because cancer care can’t be “hospital-only.” It has to live in our neighborhoods, our families, our everyday choices.

What we’re building is simple and practical: more people stepping forward as volunteers, more conversations that lead to early detection, and clearer pathways that connect patients to timely, appropriate treatment, without stigma or delay.

The message this year resonates deeply with me: care must be people-centred, because every patient’s journey is unique.

If you’re reading this, here’s my ask: don’t just “share a post.” Help one person take one real step, book a screening, accompany a family member, or join us as a volunteer.
