“After a year of mostly sharing others’ posts, this visit to Tbilisi felt like the right moment to pause and reflect.
Last week, I had the opportunity to spend two days in Tbilisi alongside colleagues, engaging with government representatives, healthcare professionals, patients, development partners and the Embassy of Switzerland on strengthening cancer care in Georgia.
What stood out was the shared recognition that sustainable progress depends not only on technical expertise, but also on strong governance, long-term partnerships and national ownership.
There are no quick fixes.
‘Stronger cancer care is not created by a single organization or a single investment. It comes from governments, healthcare professionals, patient advocates, international organizations, the private sector and development partners working towards a shared vision, with local leadership firmly at the center.’
Tbilisi continues to demonstrate what is possible when that happens.
