Smita Dandekar, Director of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Program, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, and Director of the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program at Penn State Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Honored and deeply grateful to receive the Mark J. Young Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Public Health Sciences at the Dean’s Graduation Awards Ceremony for my work in the Master of Science in Clinical Research Program.
Returning to school 10 years after completing my fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology was both exciting and challenging. Balancing graduate studies while working full time as a physician and raising two young children was not easy, but I’m proud of myself for persevering and seeing it through.
I’m incredibly thankful to my mentors for their guidance and encouragement throughout this journey. Most importantly, thank you to my husband and children for their patience, love, and support while I pursued this goal. Hearing my two girls say “Mom we are so proud of you”, was the best part.”
