This research letter examines the HGS-based cachexia index, which combines handgrip strength, serum albumin, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, using data from the Health and Retirement Study.

The authors look at whether this composite marker of inflammation and nutritional status tracks with frailty in survivors who are free from active disease but still show metabolic and muscle-related changes tied to prior cancer treatment.
