Frailty and early outcomes after lung cancer surgery
How does frailty impact outcomes after lobectomy in older adults with lung cancer?
In this large US cohort of over 110,000 patients aged 65+, frailty was associated with higher complication rates, increased mortality, and greater risk of failure-to-rescue following surgery.
Frail patients also had higher healthcare costs and were less likely to be discharged home.
These findings support routine frailty assessment and closer perioperative management in this population.
