SIOG – Pfizer Toolkit for Frailty Assessment and Management in Older Adults with Cancer

SIOG – International Society of Geriatric Oncology shared a post on LinkedIn:

“This toolkit, developed as part of a collaborative working project between Pfizer Ltd and SIOG (International Society of Geriatric Oncology), is intended for educational purposes for UK healthcare professionals.

Frailty affects treatment tolerance, outcomes, and quality of life in older adults with cancer. However, its assessment in clinical practice remains inconsistent across UK settings.

SIOG, through its UK Country Group, has worked with Pfizer Ltd to develop a practical toolkit to support UK healthcare professionals in identifying, assessing, and managing frailty across the cancer care pathway. It covers referral, diagnosis, MDT planning, treatment initiation, and review.

It is designed as a framework for clinical decision-making, not a treatment directive, for oncologists, geriatricians, specialist nurses, allied health professionals, and MDT members across all settings.”
