Geriatric co-management in older adults starting cancer treatment.
Can geriatric co-management improve outcomes for older patients initiating systemic therapy?
In this randomized trial of patients aged 70+ with geriatric vulnerabilities, co-management did not significantly improve independence or quality of life at 12 weeks. However, it was associated with lower rates of severe toxicity and fewer unplanned hospitalisations compared with standard care.
These findings support the role of multidisciplinary approaches in managing older adults with cancer.
