Sarcopenia is common in older adults with cancer and is associated with treatment toxicity, hospitalisation, functional decline, and poorer survival.
This systematic review evaluates nutritional strategies aimed at preventing or reversing sarcopenia in patients aged 65+. Across nine studies, protein supplementation, dietary counselling, enteral feeding, and multimodal approaches showed potential benefits on muscle mass and related outcomes.
The review also highlights the need for larger, standardised trials. SIOG members enjoy free online access to JGO.”
