Health-related quality of life among adult cancer patients with and without HIV – Analysis of SEER-MHOS data (2007–2017)

Do people with HIV experience different quality-of-life outcomes after a cancer diagnosis?

In this large SEER-MHOS analysis of nearly 44,000 patients, individuals with HIV reported significantly lower physical and/or mental health-related quality of life across all cancer types examined. In many cases, differences exceeded clinically meaningful thresholds.

The findings underscore persistent disparities and the need for tailored supportive care strategies.
