See how a cancer shows clearly on a mammogram image in a non dense breast (left). Now see how a cancer is masked and can easily be missed on a mammogram Image in dense breasts (right).
Early detection is so important. Ask any woman who has had a delayed breast cancer diagnosis and was subsequently told she had dense breasts, therefore her mammogram reading was unable to detect the leision.
She’ll tell you that if she had been notified about her dense breasts prior to her diagnosis, she would have known to have informed conversations with her breast care professionals about appropriate, additional imaging.
She would have been more easily able to safeguard against the harmful effects of a late diagnosis.”
